NEUTRAL ARTICLE “LO”

The neutral article LO, never accompanies nouns because nouns have gender and number. What it does is substantiate adjectives and adverbs.

When we talk about noun, we mean that we transform an adjective or adverb into a noun, thanks to the neuter article LO.

ARTICLE “LO” TO NOUNS, ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS

When we use the adjectives BONITO or FEO to say:

Lo bonito de José son sus ojos.

Lo feo de la sociedad es su falta de conciencia con el medio ambiente.

When we use the adverbs MEJOR or PEOR to say:

Lo mejor del viaje es el hotel.

Lo peor de la fiesta fue el licor.

NEUTRAL ARTICLE “LO” FOR PRONOUNS

This article LO, can be placed before the relative pronoun QUE, or in some cases we use the preposition DE to give it a pronoun function.

NEUTRAL ARTICLE “LO” AS SUPERLATIVE TO AN ADJECTIVE

When we use the neuter article “LO” followed by the comparative adverb “MÁS” we give a superlative grade to the adjective.
